NUGGS
It all begins with an idea. In this case a couple of Denver BBQ guru’s dreaming of creating Denver’s finest ice cream . The venue, an old neglected taco bell on East Colfax in Denver. The solution was to uncover the quirky building’s lost charm on a tight budget. A couple strategic additional openings flood the interior with light and allow additional access and a patio filled with custom benches to facilitate informal seating (and child containment) on one of Denver’s busiest streets. A simple pallet including touches of beetle killed pine, custom steel components and a great graphics package brought the building up to the level of the exceptional Nugg’s Ice Cream served within.
This adaptive reuse project has become a community gathering space and a beloved neighborhood staple. The efficient simplicity of the space maximizes customer flow within a densely seated environment effortlessly without ever feeling crowded.
